Well, having read that IFI’s well publicized connection issues were a thing of the past I gave them a second try. I bought the ‘sold out’ Zen one signiture.
Yet again , it doesn’t work via usb! Drivers don’t install properly, Device doesn’t show up as connected. Sadly also IFI support is as useless as ever , simply blaming windows. ( every other piece of kit other than IFI’s works though). I’m done- Great sounding products when they occasionally work. One product, possibly bad luck. Two consecutive purchases, unacceptable. One look online and it’s clear this connectivity issue has been ongoing for years. Buyer beware.

Unfortunately it could very much be windows and/or your computer.

Out of curiosity does the usb work going from your phone/other smart device? if you have such a cable for this experiment.

Or try a Linux distro.

You can try Linux without installing on your PC by creating a "live USB" stick and booting from that.

Instructions for creating a Ubuntu* Live USB can be found below

*Other Linux distros are available

I doubt it. Ifi's Zen streamer is also notorious for being finicky.

Ifi offer great sound, but mediocre usability. They don't seem committed to the latter, it's as simple as that. Which is also why I'd be inclined to take an Eversolo over Fiio, if you're doing hifi duty from your armchair.

Perhaps they need to rename company to Iffy Audio??

If he really has a point, and it sounds like he does, I don't care.
Saying that I have never tried any iFi audio kit myself
Some of their stuff can be difficult to set up my Zen Blue was hard to update as they only have updates for windows and my system phone and iMac couldn't be updated. I was in touch with one of their people on another forum and he let me send both of my Blue units to them and they did the updates for me. But the guy has left them now I agree with the OP about their after service you get a ticket and could wait ages for your turn again he followed up my tickets for me.

Interesting to know and tends to support the OP.
If it doesn't work with majority of kit without any updates then buyer beware indeed.....
However, much of this modern stuff seems to be going the same way, I must add all of my equipment works perfectly well without issue straight from to box without a need for updates of any description.
If you buy kit that requires regular updates, more fool you!
Likewise if you buy kit that doesn't work as it is supposed to from the outset, without an update, return it as unfit for purpose.
Why did your Zen blue require an update? Either it worked or it didn't.?
