I guess it's in the description 'Audio'; a person who is passionate about high-fidelity sound reproduction and the equipment that produces it (Google AI ... audiophile)

It's more about gear than music. You really do not require High fidelity audio stuff to enjoy music. Ask millions of women.
Who are perfectly happy listening to the radio ........

An Audiophile is someone who picks his nose for lunch and keeps banging on about the delights of being a vegan, he occasionally listens to music but loves playing with his own equipment...cough cough!......🙂

I know what I would like the standard connotation to be - someone who loves music and/or film and wants to experience it to the best they are able to.

I like a good scenic drive, and whilst a Sprinter van will do it, I'd probably enjoy the experience even more in a Seat Ibiza FR, and even more than that in a BMW 507.

I used to have a friend that had a AV system and all he would do is play those THX/DD sound demos that use to be at the front of movies. 10k of gear and he'd get his kicks from fiddling with the gear and EQing. Ill give him were credit is due it did sound amazing but there only so many times you can hear a cow moo. Don't think he even had a movie collection.

When my other half is asked to listen to my system she says is sounds just like that on my Phone 😏😕🙂
not wanting to put more wood on the bonfire, but now i notice younger guys saying "the L 100´s are not hi-fi" and "my receiver is almost mid-fi" , who the hell they did get this notions,

so new systems already expensive are low-fi, a power amplifier a pre-amplifier, a cd player ,a turntable and it sounds so bad, so it´s low-fi , it´s another type of scale not related with high-fidelity, no?

what is a bmw 507? I had once a BMW 535i , a 1983 , my favorite pair of jeans in early 90´s were the levi´s 507,
in the 90´s i drove 70´s bmw´s and while camping,
the german kids would surround my cars and ask "Is this a BMW?" this looking new and all original

An Audiophile is a person who has lot´s of money and seeks what others think is perfect sound ,no matter the reality of the sound,

that´s why i consider my self a Music Enthusiast, i seek for good music and if possible better sounding equipment to hear it,

now everybody as a wii something (maybe amplifier and streamer) and i have to check why so many people has it,

no matter if with vintage equipment or brand new, only when having the money for one if i need it,

will buy more records and cds ,with the money, it happened already several times when thinking of buying a new piece of equipment

It's one of the most legendary BMWs ever made, back in the late 1950s. Ancestor of the Z4/5/8

An audiophile appreciates how good the music is and how well recorded it is. They look for sound quality.
I generally have a visceral reaction to the term, to me it sounds like an attempt to obfuscate & create a technical language to hide that there’s literally no barrier to entry when it comes to buying a hifi.

I finally decided to look up the actual etymology - my English teacher mum will finally be proud of me - and it makes a lot of sense: in Latin audio loosely means “to listen”, and phile means “loves, likes or attracted to”.

Someone who loves to listen to music is a nice term now that I’ve thought about the roots of the term.

These days, many words are used in ways very much at odds, with their previously accepted meanings.

Didn´t even think of it, but was a nice car ,not that many on the roads also a unique model for the brand at the time, it´s a way better driving experience than a IBIZA FR ,

it ´s not that good or average, i say this because i know well old cars and had some and my father colected them, by the time it came out ,other cars of the same type and years were amazing to drive, in todays roads even better.

I noticed when roads were improved that some cars had names like the death car or wife nightmare(maybe for some was a dream), in the 80´s and 90´s this cars if in perfect condition were better to drive than new ones released, in average(not refering to Aston Martin or Ferrari)

the Alfa-Romeu GT 2000 from 72, i drove it for 4 years as my daily car, other was the lancia Fulvia HF 1600 also a 70´s car it gives pleasure to drive such a safe car , what i found ridiculous were the new cars released unsafe in turns not having half of the old cars quality of driving. (maybe because a lot of roads at the time were unsafe to drive )

This is about hi-fi components ,i´m not going to carry on , the talk about old cars but i can refer that had radio cassette players from Pioneer and Blaupunkt that sounded amazing good with Pioneer or Clarion speakers(normally , were supplied with Mazda´s and Datsun´s by Nissan),

later had a all Blaupunkt , a Kenwood and a Alpine system that were close to perfection in sound

The correct association in "...phile" from the "Latim" is love , audio loosely is in English ,

High-fidelity also a English term, loosely in a different sentence can be vague or the opposite of tight.

My knowledge comes from studying Latim, English and my original language, Portuguese comes from latim as French and what people call Spanish,

who in reality is Castellano, no language is called Spanish, in each region of Spain , language evolved in different ways, from the Latim.

In England only from travelling from London,(where my sister lives) England to Scotland(where my brother lives) there are many different dialects, i´m already familiar with most of them
