Much less than one percent CD despite having the means to play them. (I own lots of them but rip them, store them, and stream via AirPlay.)

FM radio. 10 percent. (More at weekends.)

All other kinds of radio (except DAB). 50 percent. (Includes podcasts.)

Streaming stuff i've ripped myself. 20 percent.

Sounds from TV/Blu-rays/DVDs/PVR. 20 percent

iPhone or iPad Mini used as control and/or source (via AirPlay) most of the time. Sometimes I will stream Lossless from the iMac.

Mostly Deezer and Spotify if its not on Deezer, thats about 95% and cds 5%.

I'm like Dave I like playing new music and rarely play the same music more than once a month.

Interesting to see the lack of vinyl listening, especially given the current rise in interest in the format (yes, I know it is still niche and always will be, but both hi-fi shops and record shops I know are seeing significant growth in vinyl related purchases).

Streaming is obviously popular as might have been anticipated. I just can't get on with it myself, despite trying several times.

Keep the feedback coming - it's very interesting!

And on that note.

Vinyl 99,9%

Frisser 0.1% , although strictly speaking I dont listen to them. I just load one up to get some juice running through the transformers/caps/valves etc. Once I hit play I ****** off into the kitchen for a smoke or 6.

If it was simply about the format, I would play vinyl. Assuming I could afford it of course.

(Given my taste in record players and appetite for new music, I can not!)

I play Spotify and live with the limitations of both the format and the platback hardware.

I would really, really like a reasonably inexpensive alternative to the Sonos Connect, native Spotify support, better sound quality and a decent interface.

Getting all three together is difficult, 'rocking horse poo' in fact.

I may have a spare Macbook. old but runs Snowy very nicely, if i can work out haw to use it closed and control it with an iThing, that may be the way forward.

About 90% Cd , 9% Spotify and 1% vinyl

Cd is by far the most used followed by spotify on the computer which is great for finding new music ,and vinyl which lags behind Cd and spotify quite considerably .

In fact I am thinking of selling my LP12 because I hardly ever use it , to my ears and with my system Cd's played on my EMC1UP sound far better and more realistic in every possible way .

10 hours/week FM/MW Car Radio,

10 hours/week MP3 from phone to Car Radio,

3-6 hours per week FLAC through Sonos Play:1,

~1 hour/month Vinyl.

I'd like the last one to be more but it's in the same room as the TV and the missus hogs it during the week.

Typical work day:

1hr news radio on various sources around home

8+hrs SONOS listening at work - mix of internet radio and Spotify

1hr+ blast of post-work music on main system fed by NAS drive (ripped CDs + Hi-res downloads)

Weekends = far more music - music server & Revox reel-to-reel :)

Have just realised that means the only physical media I interact with is the occasional CD when ripping it (before packing it away in attic) and various compilation tapes on these:

Has the vinyl gone forever? (Or at least the means to play it.)

I had a 'last fling' with vinyl a few years ago. (Getting a DAC killed that off.)

I finally sold the last (and best) of my old record collection a few months ago in order to remove any temptation to go back.

50% internet radio (especially musical theatre) and 20% some computer stored iTunes music - via a Sonos Play:1 in the kitchen. Spend a lot of time in the kitchen so have the Sonos on most of the time. The Sonos has made a big difference to the amount of time we listen to music - especially as my other half finds it easy to use.
30% from CD's using my Hifi system (usually on my own for 'serious listening).

Have some vinyl and a TT but very rarely play them.

For the future looking to rip full CD collection to a NAS drive so that they can be played via the Sonos and via the Hifi (can also play via the Onkyo avr & HC system if I wanted). Also considering using Spotify fully (previously used my son's account).

Oh I doubt that Mr N would allow that...

... you'd be surprised! The vinyl and means to play it have indeed all gone - the latter on eBay, the former as a bulk sale to Diverse Vinyl.

Since we upgraded our main system, the turntable was getting used less and less - the music server was beating it for both convenience and (surprising to both of us) sound quality. So we sold the lot. Revox is now our lone analogue source :)

Linn still make the LP12 with all of its Many upgrade options, how many good turntables do you need.

Do you miss the vinyl Clare?

I have to admit, where I have the same album on CD and vinyl I always play the vinyl now, and I'm planning to box up a lot of the CDs into storage as they get replaced on vinyl. I find the whole LP experience more enjoyable right from finding and buying the records to playing them and enjoying the much more involving sound.

Sorry to barge in a little here, but i think that’s an interesting comment, is vinyl better, or does it just have a certain quality that appeals to many but not all. I was thinking it’s just better, but now I’m reconsidering. Either way I can enjoy the vinyl experience all day long :)

100% through the amazing Magnepan speakers, of which

75% is CD

10% is radio

10% is TV

the rest the new playstation. That is probably going to increase, however!
