Home speaker suggestions please

Firstly, let me start by saying I know nothing about home speaker systems!

I've just got a new LCD tv and am considering getting some new speakers. However, I want a 2.1 system as I don't want 5.1 (mainly because I don't have anywhere to put the rear speakers.

It needs to have an optical connection can anyone recommend any? My budget is £150 - £200 tops.

I think you might find it hard to get a 2.1 system of any quality with a digital input on that tight a budget. The obvious contender would be the QAcoustics Q-TV2, but that's going to need a bit more saving.
