HiFi Stand with Onkyo 875 on the bottom shelve? Enough space to breathe?

First of all, I'd make sure she fits in depth wise. The 875 is around 50cm deep once you've plugged in all of the connections (especially if you're using banana plugs).
I've got an old Ikea 'Oppli' unit at the moment and it only just fits in that!

Secondly, it does generate quite a bit of heat when enclosed in a cabinet so I'd be wary of putting anything directly above it.

Personally, I'd always recommend that you give this unit as much ventilation space as you can. Preferably on an open shelf.

The Quadraspire open unit that comes up on that page you linked to would be a much better bet, if the shelf spacing is sufficient, as the 875 has side vents, too.

I didn't know Onkyo has side vents.. so yes definetly it's better to look for the open side design.. and the depth of course.. oh well.. at least heating bill will go down :)

I was thinking of this one - http://www.atacama-audio.co.uk/equinoxavitl.htm - so that the centre speaker can go on the top shelf. It looks as if it's deep enough. Am I right in thinking that you have an Equinox, Andrew?

Yes, I have a three-shelf Equinox AV, Onkyo on the bottom, centre on the middle and the TV on the top, and it works fine. No heat problems whatsoever.

I finally got round to picking up the three-shelf AV myself at the end of last week, along with the Hi-Fi version (4 shelves). Very nice indeed, in graphite with piano black glass.
