Did a factory restore on my daughters Dell laptop yesterday because of a few problems. Works fine now, but we can't log into her e-mails now. When you open Windows live mail it asks for a password which she can't remember. So I went into the Virgin mail setup as the administrator and changed her password there. Went back to Windows live with the new password and still can't log in. What could be wrong. Its probably something really simple but I can't find it at the moment.

Are you trying to access email through the your account on the Virgin website or through an email client (ie windows mail, thunderbird etc)

The password should be the same as accessing you virgin media account. If you can get into your VM account try accessing mail there, if you are logged into your account and mail is accessible then your live mail setup is wrong. If you can not access it while in VM account then you need to contact VM.

We're pleased to confirm that some of the changes we've made overnight have restored the webmail service for many customers, however we're still working to resolve the problems that a small number of customers may still be having. We’re sorry for the ongoing inconvenience.

If you're still having problems, you can access your email using an email client like Windows Live Mail 2011.

Download Windows Live Mail 2011 here (for Windows 7 or Windows Vista)
Download Windows Live Mail here (for Windows XP)

Need help setting up Windows Live Mail 2011? See this FAQ.

If you need information on setting up Apple Mail (on OS X) check this FAQ.

If you'd like to set up a different email client please read this FAQ.

Thanks for that, all sorted now. I thought thats what it was,, but when you change things and it does not work it gets you wondering, "is it something else". Any way all done, thanks again.
