Help I have just purchased Sony Amp STRDA2400, Sony Blueray BDP350, Kef 2005.3 speakers. Taken all day to set up, picture beautiful, but no sound. Amp linked to Philips TV via HDMI to DVI. Blueray and Sky HD box linked to Amp via HDMI. Kef speakers connected and calibrated but can not get any sound. What are we doing wrong.

First of all, you will want an optical (or coaxial) cable for audio from Sky HD as the hdmi will only give you 2 channel sound. The settings on your BD player may have to be tweaked (do you have it set for hdmi audio etc,). When you do the calibration, do you get sound from the speakers then?

W e do get sound from the speakers when performing the calibration. Have just found if we disconnect the HDMI/DVI cable we then get sound. Does this man the TV and te new system are not compatable.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Would think something in the HDMI CEC control system is telling the BD player to punt the sound straight through to the TV without stopping at Go or collecting £200 in the receiver.

Try turning off HDMI control/Bravia Sync/whatever Philips calls it - "Let'sMakeThingsBetterLink", maybe? - on everything, and see whether that cures the problem. And turn off the HDMI audio out option on the Sony receiver if you can - don't have that manual to hand on the home 'puter (it's on the office machine) to check.

Thanks Andrew have tried that with no luck. Getting good sound through the amp from both BD and Sky HD but as soon as the TV is turned on the sound cuts out. The picture is great from both sources. I assume this is happening because the amp is connected through DVI as there was no HDMI on the Philips. LIke you say the signal apears not to be stopping and going straight to the TV.

Any more suggestions or doI need to rethink the Amp and ask for a refund.

Try component cable from tv to receiver. Then there will be no sound from the tv and it should force the receiver to do the audio work.
