Help With Denon DM39

Guys, i just recently bought a new hard drive. Its a western Digital 1TB my passport ultra usb 3.0. and as soon as i plug it into the USB port The DM39 turns off and a redlight flashes. (I did have an older 300GB usb 2.0 hard drive and that worked perfectly well with the Denon DM39) Is this something to do with the Denon not supporting USB 3.0? any help would be great
