Help! Speaker nightmare

Hi, I own a Sony TAFB940R Amplifier and a Sony CDP-XB930 CD Player. Not the last word in sonic ability I know but I am looking for a decent speaker to go with this system (I cannot afford a full upgrade). I would like something quite powerful with low end ability that would suit what I think are a quite bright sounding Amp and CD Player . I also have some Atacama Nexus 6 speaker stands if you recommend bookshelf speakers. Please help if you have the time. Thanks, Neil.

Tannoy Fusion 4 or Monitor Audio Bonze 4 if you want floorstander speakers. Very good sound at low price, and are not bright

I loved the old QS sony amplifiers - they're soo cool!

Anyway, what about the Wharfedale EVO2 30s? They pack quite a punch and can be bought for £249.99 now, a real good deal. I have them and I'm not being biased but I do quite like the bass attack to them.
