Help setting up a system (if you can call it that)

Hi everyone, I recently bought some Eltax Monitor III speakers from a car boot sale, with the intention of using them for my PC. I tried setting them up, but realised that I haven't got a clue what I'm doing with them. I also bought two more smaller eltax speakers with them.

I think they are two seperate sets of speakers, so I initially thought there wouldn't be a chance of setting up the Monitor III and the smaller pair together - until I dug out an old Beomaster 3000 by Bang and Olufsen (in need of a bit of TLC).

I was just wondering if it would be possible to set up at least the Eltax Monitor III's with my computer. But I'd prefer it if I could somehow have the two sets of Eltax speakers set up through the Beomaster 3000 ( I don't know if that's possible, but it seems like it might be)

I've attached photos of what I've described. I don't have any leads (the inputs/outputs are what have confused me in particular, as they aren't anything I've ever seen, any advice on which leads to buy would also be appreciated)

Hello Ben,

I've never come across the Beomaster before before but I'm guessing it's just a case of connecting the Monitor III's via some speaker cable to the amp and then connecting the amp to the PC using a RCA to 3.5mm jack lead.

I'm not sure how much help I'll be, but I'll do my best.

The Beomaster is a FM receiver right? I was just going to say that you'll need an amplifier, then I looked here http://beocentral.com/beomaster3000-1970s, and now I'm not so sure.

What I would do is do some research on the Beomaster 3000, and if it does have built in amplification, then you'll just need speaker wire to connect from the speaker to the Beomaster. http://beomanuals.com/manuals/Beogram/Beogram%203000/

It may also be worth you starting a new thread on the Beomaster, maybe you'll get some specific help that way

As for connecting speakers to your pc, I'm not going to be much help, but I think I'm right in saying that speakers connected to pcs have to be active speakers, therefore, your Eltax's will be of no use in this situation.

I'm thinking that you may need to look out for a integrated amp which will allow you to link both the Beomaster and pc to it, and then connect the best speakers (Monitors) to the amp via speaker wire, but I could be very wrong.

I
