Looking to purchase a smart tv for my neighbour, who is 86 years old, that must have an inbuilt sat receiver so she can watch all the free to air UK channels here in Spain. It will be connected to the community satellite dish. Her budget is £250 or euros
She is not technically minded so looking for one that basically I can tune in and she can navigate the channels easily.
Don't need connection to the internet (I think she thinks the Internet is some sort of International spying system lol).
I have looked at a few TV The Hisense 40a5n1tuk 40ins and the Toshiba 40LV3463DG, but wondered if anybody had some recommendations please?

The LG C4 OLED TVs come in a range of sizes.
These also have built in Freeview satellite receiver and ethernet.
I think nearly all smart TVs will have internet connection. A lot of people subscribe to Sky, Netflix, Amazon, Disney et' al, hence the internet.
Your friend is right about the internet every one spies on you!

I'm sure I said her budget was 250 and the LG's are way out of that in fact that is the TV I have

Apologies my bad.
Currys have TVs under £250, check link below 😊👍

If you're not UK based Amazon online are selling the excellent TCL 43" 4K TV for a whisker under your friends budget

Yes I looked at the TCL but have not really heard of them before, but will have a good look at that TV. Was also looking at the Hisense 40A5NQ or Hisense 40A4N along with the Tosh 40LV2463DG and the Tosh 40LV3463DG all around her 250 price, but which one is the better option but I guess at her level there wont really be much difference to worry about.

Thanks

TCL is the cheapest new TV on the market with a 43 or 50 But there is no way of buying one cheaper in Spain There are VAT Spannish tax to pay. I do not know what the prices are in Spain but there is no point buying one here and taking it to Spain as we are not members of the European common market anymore so tax have to paid as an import . Best to check on the prices in Spain assuming she lives in Spain

Yes like you said anything we try to buy for delivery to any EU country now has an import tax placed on it since Brexit and post from Spain to the UK often gets held up at UK customs, as I found out recently when sending my Christmas cards to family in the UK which I sent on the 25 November and many of them arrived on January 16th, one of which had a special delivery trace on it and I was informed that it was held at UK customs along with the whole batch of post from Spain. So certainly makes buying a TV from the UK very difficult.

TCL is the third largest TV manufacturing company in the world and owns 12% of worldwide TV market share.

Toshiba TVs sold in Europe is made by Vestel. Toshiba the Japanese company that we know ceased operations in 2023.

Toshiba no longer operating that's sad to hear. Isn't Vestel a Turkish manufacturing brand?
