As the title says, I am in need of some help finding a matching partner for this system. Originally I had planned to buy a cheaper 5.1 system and match it with a £300-£400 AV receiver, but I was able to get this system 'as new' for less than half its original price, which I instantly snapped up. Money is quite tight with Christmas days away, and will probably be like this for the forseeable future.

Could I get away with using an amplifier such as the curreny AV receiver of the year, the Yamaha RX-V673, or maybe last years Onkyo NR609? I don't have any specialist Hi Fi shops within 15miles of me, so getting a demo is kind of out the question, also I don't drive, so I rely on home delivery.

Thanks for the input guys!!

Onkyo TXNR616.

At £360 (released at £600), it'll be the best option in my opinion as the M1 speakers do like a good quality amp - the better you drive your speakers, the better they'll sound. The main alternative will be the Yamaha RXV673 at £500.

Thanks for the reply. In your opinion, would you get the Onkyo for £350 or the Yamaha which can be picked up for roughly £450 now?

Either one will do as good a job as you'll get for this sort of money. I suppose the Onkyo is a better deal as both receivers were originally £600. In comparison to the Onkyo, the Yamaha will be a little more laid back. Only you can make the choice...
