Hi

I currently have several QED Performance HDMI-P cables connecting my AV equipment and have been very satisfied with the excellent audio and visual performance.

However, after reading the recent What HiFi rave review on The Chord Company Supershield HDMI cables then I am now beginning to wonder whether I should consider upgrading.

I would be interested in hearing any opinions on whether this would make a noticeable difference or would be a waste of money!

Cheers

Your cables are absolutely fine for your system. Spend your money on Blu-rays/music etc instead

Many thanks for the quick response. I was hoping that this would be the answer and I value your expert opinion - just thought I'd check that I wasn't missing out!

Cheers

Hears a really strange observation.

I have a Chord 'Active' HDMI cable that i use for my Sky HD box and when i tried swapping this cable with a Thatcable and also a plain philips one i paid £3 for there was a visible decrease in clarity and picture information on screen with the cheaper options. Yet having swapped the Thatcable i use for my BD player with the Chord Active i find the edges are much more solid with the Thatcable than the Chord Active. Tried the same thing with my Projector and found the Thatcable to be a very good match.

Many say there is no difference but there is. Could just be improved shielding from noise, but definetly a difference between cables.

Also i have tried several cables for my PS3 including the Active and an older QED -P, run to a Samsung 19" LCD TV and favour a £5 Alba cable i purchased out of necessity. Movement and depth is improved with budget offering.

I would imagine that there would be less of a visible difference in Plasma tech due to the Plasma's ability to make good of lesser sources but i can only assume.

No pattern -just wierd!

hdmi is a digital signal

if the cable is properly made there's no difference between a £1 and a £100 for picture/sound quality; cheap cables may fall apart so choose a cable which is from a reputable company which will use non-rubbish materials - about a tenner should suffice!

anyone who tells you otherwise is ignorant or gullible or makes money off ignorant/gullible hifi buyers!

That is odd cookie

Maybe impedance differences account for the changes
