Panasonic is doing exactly the same! I can have sworn it was better on the Panasonic.bigboss said:Not sure what I'm looking at. Can you take the same pictures with your Panasonic so we can compare?
agree +1davidf said:Have you turned off any digital processing and auto crap on the TV and the Oppo? Digital processing tends to create noise, so best left off. Only enable what is necessary.
At least now we know it's not an issue restricted to the Oppo. It's either a problem with the disc, or the settings, or as expected in the scene, or you need to calibrate your TV.gel said:
This is the Panasonic and you can see the same mess on it!
The Panasonic player doesn't have Dolby Vision and yet displays the same issue. So it can't be Dolby Vision.Native_bon said:I don't think this is just a problem of calibrating the TV set. My initial observation may be right. Sounds like a hdmi firmware bug affecting many systems with Dolby vision.
Will be interesting to hear what Oppo says when you contact them.
Thats what bugs do, they corrupt firmware causing all types of problems. It may not be Dolby Vision but if corrupt may still affect other functions. Trust me I have been using software for nearly 20years now in the studio. Do all type of wired stuff.bigboss said:The Panasonic player doesn't have Dolby Vision and yet displays the same issue. Yep, I was. Having a few problems with the TV again, do you know where I stand?Series1boy said:A good calibration would improve matters Gel.
remember you were impressed with the calibration on your VT!
Cheers mate, I resolved the clicking problem, just going to enjoy it now. I think it’s the transfer of the 4K Blu-rays.emperor's new clothes said:Hi Gel,
Sorry that you are having so many issues. The 65E7 can be magnificent, but requires a great deal of fiddling and even then some DV and HDR are far from perfect. My Kuro was very close to optimum out of the box and I hardly touched settings for over 8 years. As you know, the last firmware from LG added even more picture settings, improved motion handling for the good but still does not allow audio out via both HDMI ARC and internal speakers so looking forward to the next update.
FWIIW, I started using Cinema Home with lots of tweaks, tried the new Technicolor which is Ok and have settled for Expert -Dark room with contrast 75 brightness 49 and all of the digital processing turned off as Davidf suggests (we do watch in a dark room). Both upscaled 1080HD and standard 4K now excellent with no motion issues despite Trumotion off. HDR10+xyz and DV are a needless gimmick, IMHO as Benedict and others have suggested. DV winds up contast to a ridiculous and unwatchable 100%. I have only watched DV on Netflix and the Marvel productions, Punisher and Jessica Jones, are particularly bad with all sorts of overblown contrast and digital artifacts as a result. Turning down the contast doesn't seem to help. Most 4K output is superb, Mindhunter, Crown, House of cards, Outsiders, etc. so it is DV production that is the problem which might also apply to your Oppo. The photos that you posted look like contast too high? Over on Amazon Prime, the HDR version of the Grand tour is far from perfect, while VIkings is superb. I preferred the non HDR series of Bosch to the HDR version, where Californian sun shines off his detective badge like A380 landing light. 4k BT sport and bbc iplayer 4k Blue planet 2 are again superb. My wife was very sceptical that the KURO could be beaten, so it is a relief that the 65E7 is money well spent. I am saving the cost of a 4k Bluray player and flawed, expensive discs as more than happy with upscaled standard Bluray.
Hope you resolve matters soon and can then enjoy this superb TV.
