I heard a pair of Elan 10s driven by a Rega amp not so long ago at a dealers when having my TT looked at. They sounded terrific, and in the Rosewood finish they looked fabulous too, a better finish than the Epic range.

I thought that too, and yes, the 751 still takes some beating (as long as it's the original and not the later Freedom version which sucked).

You could try seeking out a pair of Definitive Technology StudioMonitir SM45's. They should fit the bill and come highly commended.

You could find Neat motive 3s around that price. I new model is coming out, so existing stick might well be discounted. I am very impressed and while small the bass is refined to my ears.
