The format of tomorow.. is not the flac disc.... hi res disc.... but is...... the music disc

So what is the music disc you kindly ask?.. well, it's a hybrid seperate layer disc that consists of a redbook layer (for standard cd playback) and a dvd layer for the high resolution 192/24bit.

The logo/insignia for this disc is a funky kind of lunar 'very futuristic' circle that clearly labels "music disc" with the compact disc logo and dvd logo neatly inlined underneath the music disc sign.

You'd no doubt be thinking to yourself that it sounds very similar to the hybrid SACD, but UNLIKE the sacd, almost everyone has got a dvd player and even if older dvd players can't fully decode/passthrough a full unmolested 192khz signal, then get yourself an external dac, use analog connections to pass the signal while using your dvd player as a transport and walah! everyone has got access to high resolution audio, from humble nicam old school crt speakers to proac carbon pro 8's (depending on your budget).

But at the same time, let's not forget that 24bit flac downloads are available from highly reputed sites like linn and hdtracks and it's great having that option, but as a mainstream consumer physical format, the music disc might just work in this crazy, variably diverse marketplace that is music playback formats. and the good thing about the dvd layer of the music disc is that you can rip the native 192khz 24bit song files into flac!

So awesome japanese disc manufacturers, listen up!!

if you do this, we will dance forever in euphoria

just do it.. you need it.. it's good for you!

over and out
