I've just ordered myself a new belt for my Systemdek IIX.

Is it just a simple job of replacing the old one with the new, and thats it? I seem to recall reading somewhere about putting some form of chalk on the belt or am I just imagining this?

Your thoughts as always most appreciated.

Cheers

Dave

I think that's talc you're thinking of and yes that is recommended although I've never done it myself. You will even have people telling you that you should always make sure that the brand name on the belt should be on the outside of the belt right way up! If you can tell the difference then you are a better person than I am 😉

Hey DIB,

If it's anything like the GYRO belt, it'll come already chalked and ready to go straight on.

I like to wear the gloves that you get from petrol stations when handling turntable belts. This is to prevent any grease or sweat on my fingers from getting onto the belt.

Whist the old belt is off, you might like to give the motor pulley and the platter surface where the belt runs a clean with some alcohol and lint free cloth.
