DVD players / Blu-ray - standalone

I was wondering what the general concensus was - do people normally keep a DVD player and a blu-ray player, or is the blu-ray generally as effective at spinning dvds? Assuming someone (looking at you, Sony) will release a HDD Blu-Ray player at the CES, I'd be very interested in upgrading, but wondered whether I would be advised to retain my Sony DVD player (being, of course, "another bloody silver box under the telly").

I think there are a few dedicated DVD players which are better, but in the main any decent Blu-Ray player will do a grand job with DVDs as well - it's one of things mentioned in the reviews. I personally use my Sony BDP-S550 for both Blu-Ray and DVD duty but find I'm watching less and less DVDs now my Blu-Ray collection is growing - it just isn't good enough for me any more!
