Have had one of these machines for six months now and have installed all of the latest firmware updates as they were released. I have been very impressed with it and the HD picture quality blew me away. I have recently however (there's always a however isn't there) experienced major problems that, when recording, it fails to stop when the program is over. It doesn't happen all the time but when it does, it continues untill I manually stop it. The first time I didn't notice until it had been recording for over 2 days. Has anybody else had this kind of problem?

I have had this happen once a month or so ago on my DHR8205 - have you applied the latest 4.11 patch (released at the beginning of this month)? This was meant to have a fix in it to stop this happening. If you have, did you apply it via the FVU method i.e. switching the unit off, plugging in USB then booting it up for the update - you should then have had to go through the full channel rescan like you did when you first purchased the box? If you haven't done this full method, it's likely not all the necessary files were updated so it's worth doing again using this method (see here for details).

If you've done all this, contact MIT London for support.

I did this type of install on 6th April, it was the same way as instructed for v4.02 / 4.03. Unfortunately the same thing happened when recording a program two days later. I was watching for it this time and after it had overrun by 15 minutes, I manually stopped it. It hasn't happened since but I will keep monitoring it and see if I can find a pattern. Will update this thread as to the outcome..

Fair enough - if it does happen again, definitely report it to MIT at the link in my post above as it's only by reporting these issues to them that they're able to include code to fix in subsequent updates to fix the underlying issues. I'll also keep my eye out for other people reporting the issue and let you know if it happens elsewhere as well.

Seems a few other users are complaining of this issue still as well - do you know what channel you were recording at the time when it happened? Also, can you go into the Menu, then Others > Diagnostics > System Information and post all the details there?

I'll keep watching for updates and let you know any progress made.
