That's a tall story 🙂In the english language, 'short' is longer than 'long', while 'long' is shorter that 'short'.
That is the long and the short of it!
There was a piece about this at the time, on the BBC News website. Did seem like a very odd way of doing things. Also from Misc:
In 2023, South Korea abandoned its traditional way of calculating someone's age. Basically, a child was born and deemed to be aged 1 year old, and when the next Jan 1st came around would add another year - so a child born on Dec 31st would be two the next day.
Bizarre.
Master of understatement at work there!Did seem like a very odd way of doing things.
Methinks 1.3 exatonnes of water, is still quite a lot and, I don’t think the residents of The Maldives want any more…Water in the solar system - we haven't got that much, it seems. Measured in zettalitres (1,000BnBn litres), and obviously allowing for significant degrees of estimation:
Earth 1.3zl.
Pluto 1zl.
Europa 2.6zl.
Callisto 5.3zl.
Titan 18.6zl.
Ganymede 35.4zl
So we've only got about 2%...

The Sunday Sport claimed they found a bus up there…I believe I heard somewhere, the Chinese discovered water on the moon?
Ha ha ha. I think the film sets for the moon landing is still left there. The Sunday Sport claimed they found a bus up there…
There are polar craters that never see any sunlight - they are believed to contain water ice.I believe I heard somewhere, the Chinese discovered water on the moon?
I think it's the change of state that they have an issue with!Methinks 1.3 exatonnes of water, is still quite a lot and, I don’t think the residents of The Maldives want any more…
Einstein: (I can't recall the exact quote)WWIII will be a fight over water resources... hopefully not in my lifetime, but it will surely happen at some stage in the future.
If Antartica thaws, they’re finished.I think it's the change of state that they have an issue with!
Not a chance of that being the case Kenneth. In 2025, all toilets in the global north will have a handheld toilet shower/health faucet in every house. If not already installed by now.
It’s for the better health, honestly, in my view to use a health faucet. Not a chance of that being the case Kenneth.
Apart from when the roof leaks, my house hasn't got any type of shower.
Kenneth, I feel that statistics might be against you. The UK does not have a history of using them & I'm pretty sure we don't have a crisis of infections from poor hygiene, nor have done in the past. It’s for the better health, honestly, in my view to use a health faucet.
When the rooftop work is planned or you have decided to shift postcodes, until a brand new modern building is erected from the ground-up, it's worth considering a solar roof instead, along with the Tesla's Powerwall.Apart from when the roof leaks,
In the UK, people have become accustomed to using dry wipes, hence the statistics wouldn't show. However, using water spray over wet wipes provides a greater hygienic and complete wash.Kenneth, I feel that statistics might be against you. As you've raised this subject elsewhere, can you leave it out of this thread please. In the UK, people have become accustomed to using dry wipes, hence the statistics wouldn't show. However, using water spray over wet wipes provides a greater hygienic wash.
