Hi folks,

In the process of setting up my first ever home cinema and stereo system. Given the limited budget, will only buy an AV receiver. Have decided to go for B&W CM7 as front speakers and B&W CMC for centre speaker, still searching for the cost effective rear speakers (perhaps a pair of wharferdale) and sub (most likely a Velodyne 10 inch).

Now looking for an AV receiver that has built-in airplay, preferably 2 HDMI out, within USD500-600 price range(this indicates prices in UK or USA, I would have to pay double in the country I live- Taiwan, prices here are just crazy. That's why I am thinking about buying one online such as Amazon then get it delivered to Taiwan, but the risk would be getting charged import duty which is around 10-15%, even with duty plus freight, the cost would still be very competitive to the market price in Taiwan, but of course I am aware of the potential risk of damage due to mis handling and lose of warranty).

Denon AVR-2312 turns to be the best option at the moment. Though it only has 1 HDMI out, I was told I could use an adaptor to conver the 1 HDMI to 2 so that I can connect to both TV and projector. So I am happy with 1 HDMI out.

Would this receiver good for the system I am setting up? Any owner care to share their experience with it?

Hi.

I had the CM7s as stereo pair. With my Musical Fidelity amp they sounded superb, but it all fell apart when I swapped the amp for Roksan. So whilst they really are great speakers they seem as they are not just a straight forward match.

I sold them to a friend with a Yamaha RXV667 AV Receiver, and they sound great.

So perhaps something like the Yamaha RXV671 might suit. Or I'm sure they'd really appreciate something even further up the Yamaha range depending on prices where you are.

Thanks a lot for the help. The reason Why I want to buy Denon AVR-2312 is its AIRPLAY feature. Otherwise, I could also consider amps like Yamaha or Onkyo.

The 2012 Yamaha models have Airplay. The low-mid level models are out now AFAIK and the higher end stuff will be out later in the year, assuming Yamaha follow their usual release schedule.

Pairing your CM7's with a Yammy is a good idea. And if it's airplay you're more interested in, the newer models (2012) have built in airplay. Not sure if they're released yet.

The denon is also a good receiver.

All the best.

Looks like you won't be able to demo your options. The Denon is a very good receiver. However, at your budget, you should be able to get a receiver with 2 HDMI outs. Check the Onkyo range, like this one:

EDIT: Just noticed your requirement for AirPlay. Denon & Pioneer models from last year had them, & Yamaha has included them from this year.

As already suggested, Denon 2313 is a good option:
