Hello,

It's a bit of a longshot via this forum, but let's give it a go.

I'd like to buy an Accuphase Amp while in Tokyo. They cost around half of what is changed in Europe.

Turns out, the Japanese dealers won't sell it to a foreigner. The excuse is different voltage between Japanese and international versions. Of course, this is just an excuse, they want you to spend double back home.

So, I need someone Japanese who would be kind enough to go with me to a shop in Tokyo and buy the device. Of course I would pay the device and a nice dinner afterwards is on me.

There are probably not too many audiophiles from Tokyo on this forum, but I don't have other ideas so far 😁

Alternative is to hire a guide for an hour or two and take them to the shop. Not sure you need an audiophile, but someone who is a) in Tokyo and b) speaks both English and Japanese?
It may be a tad more complicated then that. The dealers will apparently refuse the sale if they suspect you want to export it. So I need someone who looks like he/she may be buying 10k amp for itself. A hostess from Hentai Cafe may not cut it. Unfortunately 😁

Europe is 230v/50hz
Japan is 100v/60hz
you will need a step down transformer & 60 to 50hz frequency convertor , plus shipping from japan & resale will be a problem as no EU warranty & 20% EU import duty
or just buy a amp made in europe
Thanks, already thought about. 100 eur worth of equipment for voltage change. Warranty is covered by my credit card. Transport done by myself. Import duty is fortunately much less in my case.

I will buy it, period 😄 Just need a good samaritan from Tokyo now.
