Denon AV2106 vs 2310

Is it a an upgrade step in terms of say stereo playback and also 5.1 in plain DD/DTS......Can the 2310 be preset to allow the sub woofer to be active when dvd is selected and have the sub not active when cd is selected...

Never heard the Denon AVR2106, but have heard the AVR2807. The 2310, in my opinion, is a step up.

The 2310 has a separate 2 channel menu for setting up which speaker settings are used, so the answer is yes to your second question.
