What cables are you guys using on your TV's?

Chord Powerchord plugged into tacima for Panny Plasma

Russ Andrews DCT treated powerkord into Denon 1909 AVR into surge protected extension

Russ Andrews figure of 8 powerkord into V+ Box from tacima

Soon, another DCT powerkord on my PS3 and another figure of 8 onto my BR player, both fed from Tacima

Russ Andrews Classic Powerkord with 320i wattgate (made a big difference)

Careful with that as a Wattgate is not suitable for all TV's

It wouldnt fit my Panasonic Plasma

But

I do use a Russ Andrews PowerMaxT Plus for my plasma

Rather than another Silencer, is there a mains conditoner like the Tacima but with 2, 3 or a maximum of 4 sockets instead of 6? It would also need to cost less than £40 or else I may as well get another Silencer.

Good advice mate, i had to send back my copperline alpha as it didnt fit. You can get the classic powerkord fitted with the slim IEC plug thingy, so i think i will be doing that for my panny.

Yes, well worth checking, my Merlin cable only just fits on my Sony TV.

Wattgate no chance.

Ordered another Powerkord for my Receiver.

Two Chord powerchords used for KRP500A noticed improved SD pictures alot less noise on screen almost like having the screen cleaned.

The link is to an article about the wiring used in modern day engines that have ECUs. It argues that the wiring needs to be able to surpress EMI and RFI in the engine bay, primarily caused by the ignition system and spark plugs. The problem becomes apparent with failures in the ECU. I found this article because my car keeps kicking up error messages where there is none and the ECU has had to be refurbished.

It dawned on me that similar would apply to hifi as you have delicate electronics on the end of power lines that cause and are affected by EMI and RFI.

The article discusses ways of reducing the problems and solid core and wound cables.

You need to remember that the wire which is likely to cause most problems to your amp, cdp, etc, will be the bit nearest the audio components themselves e.g. they are inside the case. Changing the power cable will have no effect on these.

In my opinion, the best way to improve sound quality is to keep the high voltage stuff (especially the the transformer) away from the audio circuits using a quality external power supply. The likes of Naim, Cyrus and others take this approach.

Jase, on the strength of your recommendation and the price of this product, I have today purchased the The Classic PowerKord 1m DCT UK Plug W320i and also opted for the 'Cable Burn-In' service for an additional £13.50.

I'm expecting a huge improvement - let's see when it arrives.

I agree that spending like 350 quid on a cable is a bit much, ( some on russ are 2 grand!!) but for one that's 70 to 100 notes and you can see the improvement easily over the obviously cheaply made cable that came with your gear. Bargain.

Hopefully, it's all it's cracked up to be!

Hmmm.....a used cable for a premium! Isn't it cheaper to buy a used cable off ebay for a lot less? Even they would be "burnt-in". No wonder they have a money back guarantee (minus the postage which you have to pay), so the returned product is then sold as "burnt-in" at a higher cost than a new one. Now THAT is an excellent business proposition!

EDIT: I knew it! Just checked....they also have a "cable upgrade scheme". I wonder what happens to the returned cables....

EDIT 2: Ok, some of them (probably visibly used ones) are also sold in the bargain section.

BB - I chose to have this cable 'burnt-in' by RA so when the cable arrives, I know that it is optimised for performance, and I expect to see and hear major differences in sound and picture quality from the word go. There would be no excuses.

I don't want to wait 500 hours to see what this cable can do - it either stays or goes back.

Fair enough. You're right in pointing out the returns guarantee. Do post in your experience with the cable.

Valian TX, I've just found this on RA website. Your cable is probably not eligible for returns:

Conditions
To receive a full refund, we ask that cables and
accessories are returned in the condition that they arrived to you in.
Returning damaged goods may incur a re-stocking charge (minimum 10%).
Services, such as Burn-in and DCT are excluded from the Home Trial and will not be refunded.
To ensure your return is processed as quickly as possible, you must contact us for an RMA number before returning the goods.

http://www.russandrews.com/viewindex.asp?lookup=1&region=UK&currency=GBP&article_id=home-trial&customer_id=PAA2976014110740YZXZSKTUOHETPTBC

So, the argument is, you can return the cable within the 60-day trial period without even experiencing the "full benefits" of a properly "burnt-in" cable (you'll have to use it for 8.5 hours everyday for 60 days to achieve 500 hours burn-in). But if you order it already burnt-in, you're expecting to experience the full benefits immediately, but if you don't, tough luck, the cable cannot be returned.

All these terms & conditions & catches........why RA, if you're so confident of improved performance?
