I already have a fig 8 cable on the blu ray player and have a copperline alpha on my amp. To be honest, i have not bothered doing an real comparison with the amp and i didnt notice much difference on the blu ray player. I am yet to be bothered to dig out the old cables and test it all again. Given the lack of instant, noticeable change (much unlike putting and upgraded cable on my CDP and TV), if i couldnt afford to buy them, or if they were stretching my finances, then i wouldnt be that concerned about having to send them back. Fact is i like having the shorter neater cables and to my mind having pukka shielded cables is a good thing, especially if you have speaker wires in the mix too (which invariably there will be). That's my theory / thoughts on it anyway, someone who actually knows about the technical stuff in this respect will tell you if thats an added benefit or not.

Thanks for that. I'll need to see a significant improvement over my present cables or they're going back I'm afraid.

Right all set up as follows :)

Blu Ray Player: RA powerkord 8 - Picture now incredibly sharp and vibrant - much more than with the standard lead.

Panny TV already had Chord powerchord fitted

PS3 now has a Chord Powerchord -unbelievable difference, everything is clearer audio and visual

Reciever now fitted with Chord Powerchord, much much more detail, drive and seperation than the DCT RA cable.

V+ box has got the DCT RA cable and wow!! (using aie to fig 8 adaptor), every channel's PQ is amazing

All in all I am very very happy with my setup now :). Think the RA powerkords do lend themselves towards source equipment though.

Again i think its personal preference and whilst the RA cables are good to my ears the Chord Powerchord is the next step up

Interesting read. I use a Chord Sperscreen wit my amp (only a Denon 2808). I'm looking for a mains cable for my Marantz CD6002. I'm now thinking of moving the Superscreen to the CD player and getting something like the Powerchord for the amp. Does this sound like a good idea?

I would personally put the Chord Powerchord on the CDP and the superscreen stays on the amp

Is there much of a physical/sound capability difference, between the chord's powerchord and superscreen?...

My two new powerchords are at royal mail depot, to be collected first thing !!!!

Ive been really shocked tonight ! Been watching tv, flicking through the channels as you do, went to go make a cuppa and had a chat on the phone, when i returned to my plasma i was watching abit of silent witness & i honestly seriously thought i had it on the BBC HD channel but it wasnt, it was on SD BBC

So i can certainly say for sure that the Powerkord-8 that i added to my SKY HD box is settling down nicely were SD is looking like HD, Wonderful !!

And also i recently watched I am legend on bluray & although its great PQ anyway with the DCT treated Classic its sharper than ever & its so incredibly clean & totally noise free, colours are cleaner and better saturated with greater detail.

Outstanding !

Just been reading a bit of this thread. Sounds like your having fun with power cords, im a huge believer of them too.

Have you tried Hifi Tuning or Isoclean fuses in your plug's and equipment?
They arent cheap at £16-25 each, but if you've upgraded your power cords, this is the next step and i found in my hifi system that they brought equal improvements as replacing the power cords. So well worth the money.

Sounds interesting MattSPL, with the Russ Andrews powerkords they do come fitted with his own fuses that he says brings better improvements as youve just stated. Where do you purchase these Hifi tuning & Isoclean fuses? Is there a website etc for them?

Thanks

Received an e-mail this morning from RA confirming that my cable has been dispatched. Will provide a review after I have tested the cable with my blu-ray player and amp. I don't think it will go into my TV (with the wattgate plug).

The cable arrived this morning at 7:30am! I did not need my alarm clock in this instance. I will carry out a test this evening when I get back from work and post the results.

Looks and feels such a lightweight compared to my current cables - about 1/3 the size, and fits easily into my TV as well, with space to spare!

I expected the RA cable to blow my present cables away in terms of superior visual and sonic improvements, but it did not, infact it's identical to them. Tested the cable with the blu-ray player, amp and TV - with both SD and HD material.

It has been a dissapointment for me although it may well provide that much needed upgrade to someone who is at present just using a standard 'kettle' lead. Well, at least I know that my present cables are excellent for the money and work brilliantly.

My existing cables replaced the RA PowerMax Plus. They appear to have this beaten too, so back to Russ Andrews it goes.
