DAC for iPod dock

Hi

I have a budget HiFi but even on my system, the limitations of an iPod are very obvious compared to CD. At the moment I'm just using a Chord mini jack to RCA lead but I'd like a dock and have seen a few that take a digital signal from the iPod for a better result.

My amp was approx £500 and well rated for the money (5star what hi-fi). It isn't new but I'm still happy with the sound and wonder if anyone could recommend a DAC that could be pared with maybe the Onkyo ND-S1 to give a good result on a budget amp.

I've seen the review online for a CYP AU-D3 which is dirt cheap.... Too cheap? Or a bargain ideal for a budget system?

What quality are the files you use on the iPod???

Do you have a budget in mind?

What other kit do you have??
