My wife has fallen in love with the look of the Roberts MP43, but I like the extra features of the new MP53. I hoped the MP53 might also sound better, so I eagerly awaited the review in this month's magazine. Unfortunately the short review can be summarised as "looks nice, sounds ok, but could sound clearer for the price"... which leaves me wondering whether to buy the MP43 or MP53 for her Christmas present, when it is unlikely that I can listen to them before then.

So could you help with 2 questions please?

Which sounds better - MP43 or MP53?

Does the MP53 feel much larger?

Would you recommend any other similarly priced iPod/DAB/CD system above these?

Thanks.

I am sorry, noone has been able to find time to answer. I am in a similar dilemma. will post my querry too in this thread.

Roberts MP53 or Pure Avanti Flow or Yamah TSX 130

I am in a smallish dilemma here. I like the ability to pop in my
CD/MP3cd, which avanti flow does not have. I will be buying iPOD too in
the next year or so.

Perhaps what will make the deal is the sound quality of each, but again
I am no great audiophile either. Fortunately all three will fit my
budget. In terms of beauty, sound, and versatility, which one should I
go for?

My heart says Avanti Flow, but CD player function takes me away.

Main reason to look for these is the compactness and absence of wires etc to keep peace at home.

Hi, yes, I'm also in this position, with the addition that I've also been looking at the new Sony CMTLX40i which is cheaper than either Roberts, and has had a good couple of user reviews, although I haven't seen anything published yet.
