Hi all, As I have just purchased a ProAc D18 recently, my previous EPOS M12.2 is sitting 'quietly' in the lounge now. Hence, I am planning to start up a hifi set up there. The system will be based around: 1. EPOS M12.2 2. Marantz CD6000 3. ARCAM rDAC 4. Airport Express There is a 2nd hand Creek Evolution 2 amp for sale here locally for about GBP450. 1 year old unit. Questions: 1. Will it match well with the gear above? 2. Is that the market price for a 1 year old unit? Checked on ebay and cant find anyone selling. Thanks.

Creek will match well with Epos speakers. Creek and Epos are the same company, so they have a natural matching that is quite special despite the fact that Epos speakers are quite unfussy in their matching - providing the amplifier isn't too bright.

They would be well matched with some Chord Odyssey 2 speaker cable or at minimum Chord SIlver Screen. Don't forget some good quality stands too - the M12.2 are larger stand mounters so make sure the speaker stands you choose have adequately sized top plates.

Thanks Mr. Miles,

I am OK with the stands as they are sitting on solid wooden stands with spikes etc from previous set up.

Interesting note on the speaker cable. I still have my Ixos 604 biamp cables, will try them first will definitely take note of your recommendation.

Do you have any idea whether the selling price I quoted is the market rate?

Additional question:

3. I just realised that for this Evo series, there is no matching power amps as I wish to continue to biamp the EPOS as per previous set up. Does it matter if I match the Evo 2 with power amps from other companies?

No problem. That is a good price for the Evo 2, although you could probably pick up the original Evo for less which was also a very impressive amp. There isn't any matching Evo power amp (there was only the higher Destiny model), but you could match with a Roksan Kandy power amp if you can find one or even the Kandy K2 power amp. We tried this with the Creek and it was a good match.

Very informative reply it is. Thanks a lot. Will definitely be looking around for Roksan power amps.
Or maybe will have a look at creek power amps from different series.

I just checked the pruce of brand new creek evo 2 amp sold here. It is GBP 560. Thinking about whether to purchase brand new for that warranty.

Firstly, The Evo II is an excellent amp, so you'll probably won't need to bi-amp it for a while. The Creek is so flexible interms of system matching; when matched with Arcam (noticed the rDock) the sound is fluid and detailed. A great choice of amp.

I have to agree, im more than delighted with my evo 2, just need to sort my speakers out now and think i will be a happy bunny

audioaffair:El Here - looks like it much just be a case of deciding on black or silver?
