Not sure if it's already been said as I haven't read the whole thread, but what about Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Born To Run.

Go listen!

No!

Make that 2 no's.

3.

I'd rather have a Tabasco enema than have to listen to that whiney screeching voice any more.

"Who gave a xxxx what Frankie said?"

So that's a no then, is it?

I think you should meet up with him and offer him the straight choice between the 2, I think he'd change his mind once he saw the large tabasco bottle. :)

Back on track, my vote for the best cover of a Springsteen song wouldn't go to FGTH's version of Born to Run (obvs) but to this:

Patti Smith -- Because the Night

OK, maybe not technically a cover, since Springsteen's original version wasn't released at the time; it was laid down during the sessions for Darkness on the Edge of Town in 1977/78 and only released in a mucked-about form on The Promise in 2010. Sad to say, the version on The Promise isn't great, and if you've heard the Boss perform it live, you'll know how poor this studio version is. And also how much better the Boss can do it than Patti ...

I'll take my chances :)

I'm not saying this is better than the original, it isn't, but I don't think I've ever heard a weirder, or more obscure cover verson ever.

Blinded By The Light by Manfred Mann's Earth Band. Originally a Boss song, it would be good to hear him sing it like MMEB, I think he could do a great job of it. His original was shite, but Chris Thompson's vocals coupled with Manfred Mann's arrangement and production raised it to another level.
