Using a MacBook I have copied my iTunes to my buffalo Linkstation nas.

I can see the nas in my shared folder in iTunes.

I can see there is over 50 gB of space used up on the nas. I cannot see any of my itunes when I click on the nas in iTunes. It says there are zero items??

There should be just over 50gB of music in apple lossless.

Am I missing a step??

i still have all my iTunes stored on my MacBook.

Thanks in advance

If you copied the files outside iTunes, then iTunes won't know anything about where you've moved the files.

You need to let iTunes know where you've moved it to - starting iTunes while holding down the option key should let you enter the new location - see this thread on the apple forums.

Just finished ripping CDs to MacBook.... 79gB.

Will leave it copying over to nas.

I have a feeling that itunes is only accessing from my library and not from the "shared" nas in iTunes. This will be my next step. Hopefully this means I will be able to access my music from other devices like amp or iPad to Airplay or use media server on amp as I cant jailbreak my Apple TV 2

when I selected a track on the Mac no sound came on and an ! Came up next to the selected track. Then when I turned on nas I can only assume that the Mac accessed the nas to play the selected track as it played fine??
