Connecting Bi-Wire Cable to single speaker input...?

Hi,
I have just received some new AudioQuest Rocket 11 speaker cable and am in the process of terminating the ends to connect it to my hi-fi system (Spendor A7 speakers and Cyrus8XP amp).

The speakers have a single black and red input.

Silly questions... but I assume the attached photo is the correct way to terminate these ends?

Also, what is the purpose of the black rubber strips running alongside each wire? I assume these are just some form of insulation that should be cut?

Thanks!

That's fine. The black rubber strips are part of the cable insulation and can be cut back.
If you believe cables can be directional then yes the arrows point from the amp to the speakers.

I'm curious on how this went? I accidentally ordered some bi-wire cables for my vintage, single-input speakers and planned on doing something similar. It seems like a no-brainer, but I am an audiophile newb, and I made the mistake of googling the issue.... hard to get a simple answer. 🙂
