Cleaning fluids

That's where digitising 😱 vinyl comes into its own.
I found that blanket click removal adversely affected the HF but...
There's something very satisfying about zooming right in to see (unmissable) clicks on the waveform....then obliterating them.
Because you're so zoomed in, you take out the click and leave the music intact.

Takes a while, especially if there are several clicks.
If your vinyl track isn't available on CD or streaming.....you may scoff at digitising vinyl, but there's your choice; make it listenable, or store unlistenable vinyl.
Nothing against digitizing vinyl if you have the time and patience to do it but it seems to me if your going to that extreme a download purchase might be the way to go instead of paying for pricy vinyl in the first place

It was more about making the unplayable that you own, playable.

If it's available as a download (or anywhere else) then yes, by all means forget about any thoughts of digitising vinyl 👍

I believe you may have a point, up to a point. If it is badly unplayable I wouldn't be playing it anyway with the risk of damaging the stylus.
If you have a decent cartridge it is perhaps better to simply ditch the disc and buy a replacement.
I suppose you could buy a cheap cartridge purely for the sake of digitizing but that's further outlay.

I plan to acquire a vacuum style cleaning machine pretty soon as I currently have no cleaning solution for my growing record collection and some of them are getting a little grimy. I would simply like to know what are some of the best cleaning fluids to use with these machines? I assume they are pretty similar but I also know that there are many different formulations and brands out there. So what are your favorites? What are the best to use with this type of machine? Thanks
Just weigh up how many records you can buy for £400 plus for the machine against £60 on a Spin cleaner ?? lot of records I would say ?? & then I hear you have to buy the expensive fluid to clean with. So once you have Spin Cleaned your record always use your Static brush every time before/after you play because that will save you money for the day comes to buy records or that machine which must be marvalus .

I bought a copy of an album on a record stand for 6 euro & when I played it back home it sounded rubbish ?? So I have tried all ways to clean it to no avail !! So I bought a Remastered copy !! but I keep trying to clean the bad copy but i think the only way to win is to use a ML or SH Styli which would really get down into the bottom of the groove ?? But I don't have the money to waste an expensive Styli to clean a 6 euro record .. so I would like to know if someone has an easy way to help when someone has this type of problem & not only me. 🙂👍👎

Isn't the Waxwing a glorified phono stage??
It's a phono preamp with extras as I recall, although how good it is I have no intention of finding out....
I bought the Waxwing & I will say that it's well worth the money & by having it sit in between the Turntable & your Intergraded Amp which already has a DSP inside I would still say you will not be obstructed by thinking it is affecting your HiFi pureness sound from your turntable to the amp?? But that is my opinion with my ears which are still good for my age but for someone else in the Audiophile class maybe it wont be the thing to have. But I would like to hear from someone who has bought the Waxwing & thinks badly of it.

OK so if one already has a more than capable phono stage and a fully analogue amp, wouldn't work? Or would it work as a pbono pre-preamp, between the turntable and phono stage?

Quite curious and wouldn't be too averse to a bit of modern witchery if it removed surface noise from albums too expensive to just replace...

In my opinion I feel as though it is working more as the part which is giving you extra features like keeping you up to date on your Stylus wear & allowing you to have that extra features were you can have the equalizer use which some people don't have & with the Magic feature it allows you to understand where the clicks & Pops have gone ?? So if it can be bought I feel it would be a good item for budget HiFi buyers who are on their way up in the HiFi world. Yes I do understand that maybe the guys who have the top of the range HiFi it wont be for them but for others I still say it's worth every $£ you can afford.🙂👍

I'd be more than happy to give it a go, as I am not one of those "oh well, it's part of the character, life has surface noise" etc. I have a very low tolerance for it. I just need to figure out how it would fit in my "chain".

I had the same thought about it before I bought mine.. but all you have to do is get the app up on your phone ! connect the Turntable into the Waxwing ! but DON'T connect the Waxwing into the phono sockets where you had your turntable connected to ! go to the next pair of sockets in to back of your amp ! & away you go. 👍 🙂

Yeah that's my issue. I have a dedicated phono preamp which is arguably of a significant higher level than the Waxwing, so would definitely not be interested in replacing it. Will need to explore a bit.

Ok !! I have the Rega Elicit mk5 which I was told I would not need having the Waxwing with !! But after doing some homework & listening to the maker Shannon Parks I gave it a go & I would say that there are things in the Waxwing that you can really enjoy with any pc of gear no matter what make or cost.

Ha nice! That's my next amp upgrade, but have to upgrade speakers first (and given finances, it'll be a while 😂). I guess the Elicit has a decent MM phono stage - probably on par with the Fono MM.
