Without shelling out on the spike shoes has anyone got any top tips for saving my wooden floor from carpet spikes? Can I get away with a coin underneath, or does it need rubber base and hard top like the shoes?

Any help much aprpeciated.

Thanks

Make sure you indent the middle of the 2p coin with a centre-punch to give the spike tips somewhere to rest without sliding around.

You can also buy little self-adhesive felt discs (about the right size) designed to go on the bottom of chair legs. Stick them on the other side of the coins to protect the floor from scratches.

I did exactly this with 2p coins and felt discs and it seems to work a treat.

Convincing your children that they shouldn't move the speakers is a separate issue...
