Hi there all .

i have the xbox 360,xboxone,ps3,ps4,Nintendo wii u,I'm putting my Virgin TiVo back in my rack, oppo 103,Apple TV .

ive ran out off Hdmi ports on my soundbar and tv.

i will be using the Hdmi switcher for devices I don't use that often ,I don't won't to be constantly removing hdmi cables so I will need a 5 port Hdmi switcher .

these things go from really cheap up to £200 .some of the cheaper models according to some reviews have damaged the actual tv or damaged the Hdmi port.

also will I be losing any picture performance from these things?

If you take the plunge with that AV receiver/5.1 speaker set up you won't need a speaker; most amps in the bracket you were looking at wil have at least 6 HDMI inputs, and they will have a 'pass through' mode so you can turn off all video processing in the amp to ensure the video signal is unaffected.

No point dropping £200 on a switching box if you'll be buying an amp soon anyway.

morning all.

try this one from amazon, I have two of these and can confirm for the money they perform like some more expensive switchers I have seen, only thing you will need a extra hdmi cable from the switcher to your soundbar as there is none provided in the box.

here is the link

http://www.amazon.co.uk/CMI-HDMI-Switch-1080P-Compatible/dp/B00ABYYKNS/ref=sr_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1385887155&sr=8-19&keywords=5+way+hdmi+switch

hope this helps

If you want an interim solution pending an amp there's a QED unit on amazon for £50 or an OPPO unit for £99. Both would be of sufficient quality (I used to use a QED switching box a few years back and it was fine); both are 1.3 spec (not 1.4) but that probably won't matter if you just use them for routing all your consoles through.

Thanks macdiddy I will check the link, yes mr malarky I was thinking that too.its just a quick fix for the time being.

having moved the home cinema to the larger room my budget has increased for the amp and speaker set up .with the cables and stands and everything else I'm looking at next summer for my home cinema to be finally completed.

as for the gaming eh....I'm not even much of a gamer the new consoles and games are still in the boxes I'm set for months.i didn't even buy any games for the Xbox one I just have the FIFA download I bought 5 games on the Playstation 4 tho as the resolution specs seem to be blowing the xbox one out of the water.

+1 £3 may buy you a box and a bit of wire but rarely a well designed switch box with secure plugs and 17? wires per connection? I suggest (somewhat rudely but also tongue firmly in cheek) that you take good advice when offered. Sorry! I too have been guilty occasionally.

Off topic.maybe but I NEVER buy cheap chinese kit which gets within 1m of a mains socket.
