Has this Blu Ray etc. player been discontinued?

After doing my research, I've decided it's the one I want, seems like it'll be up to the job of replacing my current CD player as well (NAD 520) etc. but it doesn't seem to be available anywhere online.

I've found it on richersounds but they don't have a store here (Rep. Ireland) any more and it's only in their catalogue, not in their online store.

So discontinued or about to be replaced or what?

Ta,

Iain

This has been on my short list for a while infact had a demo yesterday, also learnt yesterday about a new denon universal player that should be out soon.So going to wait and hope to demo that as well.Any other universal players in the 300-400 budget that anyone can reconmend?

dirtydean:Only richer sounds sell the 650BD, as richer sounds or the parent company owns Cambridge audio...

Yet again, for clarity's sake, Audio Partnership owns Cambridge Audio, and while Julian Richer is a shareholder in AP, Richer Sounds and/or its parent company don't own AP.

It's available thro Richer Sounds in Belfast and they have delivered to me here in Meath and are generally a great help so best of luck, keep us posted as it's on my shopping list and I would be keen to hear what you think of it....

All making sense now 🙂

Andrew, it was the richersounds.ie site that I was checking, I've sent them an email about it anyway, so hopefully I'll be able to get it.

There has been a few posts about the Denon you might be waiting till next year for this player. Have you looked at the Sony BDP 370 this plays SACD'S if that's what you wanted it for? Also there is a new Marantz model out this should be about the same time as the Denon priced around 450 pounds

Correct and no price wars as a consequence...

That unlike in some other countries where Cambridge Audio is sold through conventional distribution channels (and is thus more expensive), in the UK the sole retailer is Richer Sounds, thus keeping prices down.

DavidNorway:Only one chain of hi-fi shop sell Cambridge in Norway for the same price as Richer Sounds.

I'm sure that probably means Norway is owned by Richer Sounds. Or something...

All I'm saying is the likes of Sony where sold through many retailers it will cause a price war like what hifi say shop around you may find it cheaper the 650 had stayed the same price since release why? No competition.
I think this post my be getting out of hand so I'm sorry if I upset anyone and ill end it here....
