Now I've got all my equipment in a nice AV cabinet, I can't help but notice that my cabling is a bit of a mess.
Can I just use cable ties to tidy them up, or will bundling the cables too near to each other impact my system's performance?
Any thoughts on this, or alternative suggestions, or do I just have to live with the spaghetti and keep the cabinet doors closed [;)]

I used coloured velcro cable ties 10 for a £1 to tidy mine up as you can obviously quicky undo them if you need to add or change cables over.
I just kept the power ones seperate from the audio ones and coiled them loose, i've had no problems this way, guess some people will frown on it but it worked ok for me.

Use the shortest possible interconnects. I notice you use Crimson. Chord will make custom lengths for you. (About 2 - 3 day turnaround in my experience).

Get rid of/sell one of your Arcam DV88/DV79 units.

Sell the A85 and use the AVR250 for everything.

Heck, sell the lot and get a Solo Movie 5.1

I would second this.

Although I still have a power cable strapped to my usb lead but I have not noticed any difference. Not to say this is not possible though...

I agree on selling one of the DVD players, why would you have 2?

But why would you sell an A85 and listen through an AV amp?

Everyone comments on the two DVD players! The DV79 is for playing DVDs and is plumbed into the avr250. The DV88 only does CDs these days and is plugged into the A85.

And yes I do love the A85! Best stereo amp I've heard and I've had it since new, with phono stage fitted. No, I don't want to sell it.

But as for rationalizing my system... Hmmm.

I can feel the upgrade itch starting...
