Bookshelf & Stand mount Speakers - Decision Help

Have been deciding on replacements for my Spendor 7/1's, too large for den in new house, downsizing. Had come close to going with EB1S but with the glowing reviews for the B&W685 S2 I'm now conflicted. Need some counseling to get off the dime. Other suggestions in the price range would also be appreciated. Thanks.

What can we say... the B&W 685 S2s are great (we'd go for them over the EB1s). If you can go to a dealer for a listen, we'd do so - and also try out the Focal Aria 906, Neat Iota (they really will save you room), Dali Ikon 1 M2 while you're there! Or the KEF LS50, if you can stretch to £800. All standmounts.

Becky, thanks, you confirmed what I was leaning toward. Have listened to the KEF LS 50's, wonderful but, I think, a bit over priced in the category. Am an old Quad guy so love neutral speakers that aren't there, if that makes any sense. Will try to find the Focals to hear real time. Thanks again.
