Do you have a budget? Do they need to be placed close to a wall? Do you like to play them loud or is it just normal listening levels? What size room will they be used in?
By bookshelf, I assume you mean standmounters? Sorry, I'll clarify that statement. Do you care about the size of the speakers, so long as they're standmounters? Do you already have stands, if so, which ones?
You could look at the Monitor Audio RX1 or RX2, Dynaudio DM2/7. There are more, but they tend to need slightly better amplification due to being less efficient or a more awkward load.

I'd add the B&W 685 and the DALI Ikon 2 to that list - but need some rock solid stands for the Dalis
stokes2608:I have a budget of around £600 they are around 1/2 a meter away from the wall and the room is roughly 15 by 12 feet
Have a no-obligation 30-day trial of EB Acoustics' excellent EB1s. They'll suit your amp, your room and your preferred position. And if you don't like 'em you can have your money back. I'm guessing you'll like them, though.
