Bluetooth Headphones Built in Mic Compatibility

Hi all,
I'm looking to get a pair of bluetooth headphones (likely the AKG Y400s), and I can't find out if the built in microphone will be compatible with an iPhone over Bluetooth. I thought this would all be fine, but the sales assistant in the shop (who was very helpful) wasn't sure that the mic would work with an iPhone, and may only work with Android devices. I know very little about any of this, and was wondering if this would just work, or if I need to be cautious and try to find a specific answer for these (or other) headphones.

Specific, dependable advice and / or an easy returns option is all you need before purchase Stephen.
(Personally never touched Apple and my Android use is not through choice. Too much "will it, won't it, be compatible, if so how long for?" etc. for my liking).

Bluetooth is Bluetooth so a standard indeed.
Even Apple adheres to it.

HFP 1.6, A2DP V1.3, AVRCP V1.5 for profiles, check if your iPhone support this profiles.
