Re-mastered doe not mean better than the original, just different, and unfortunately a lot are very poor, with original vinyl masters being far superior then the ones that have been re-mastered, so buyer beware.
A Blu-Ray can contain a lot more data than a CD so it can have extra features and better quality, so the slight faff of blanking the TV becomes nothing.
Bill
I just wondered if OP meant Bluray as opposed to Bluray Audio as none of discs have any video content.
Hmmmm
How are you going to select titles without being able to see them.
My Sony does not have a display.
I purchased a DTS audio DVD and had to use my TV to see and select tracks.
So... I do not think that it's a waste having your TV on.
Mind you, if you're going to play the disc from start to finish.
Missed your post, apologies.I just told you I meant Blu-ray Audio discs, and I changed the thread title to indicate so.
But even with Blu-ray Audio discs, I'm assuming there'd be some visual element while playing the disc? Or am I wrong? Is it just audio and no visual elements at all?
I use mine in my Oppo....I'm looking for a reply with anyone actually using these discs.
Following with interest. I’d assumed Audio meant audio only, and the extra capacity is used for multi-channel mixes. As these are of no interest to me, I’ve not bought any, but I am intrigued. Like Al, I have an Oppo that would probably play them.I just told you I meant Blu-ray Audio discs, and I changed the thread title to indicate so.

That’s the part I don’t quite get. How to access the higher resolution layer. I’m sure I read that some of these were created to hold several CDs worth on one disc, like a super long-player. Have you seen those, or was imagining it?I have some excellent discs and some not so.
Not interested in multi channel even if it were available simply for sound quality.
i suppose it's a bit like having a SACD disc and only listening to the CD layer.
Not seen one, at least not that I own. That’s the part I don’t quite get. How to access the higher resolution layer. I’m sure I read that some of these were created to hold several CDs worth on one disc, like a super long-player. Have you seen those, or was imagining it?
Yes, it is. I used to have a Cambridge Audio 4K Blu-ray player that I just put into Pure Audio mode, but if you don’t have a Blu-ray player that does that then it becomes a faff. You will have your TV on a channel like ITV and you will be listening to your Blu-ray Audio. Every time you want to change a song you will have to go back to that HDMI input for the Blu-ray player to do that. And that’s if your setup allows that.An album is being released or re-released literally every other day. I want to bite but...

You clearly have a different sound set-up to mine.Yes, it is. That’s because you have an Oppo with Pure Audio mode. And because it’s stereo you are not having to select soundtracks you can use. Often with Blu-ray Audios you have to select the soundtracks using the TV screen. You clearly have a different sound set-up to mine.
Mine is purely stereo and a TV is not required or used.
It was a faff for me because when I turned my tv off it switched the Blu Ray off too! Then I changed the HDMI settings on my Blu Ray player and rectified the problem. As for the sound I have a number of Steven Wilson's albums on Blu Ray and the 24 bit stereo mix sounds amazing - better than cd. Also have quite a few live concert recordings on Blu Ray which I am equally pleased with.An album is being released or re-released literally every other day. I want to bite but...

Some spill how it works below. The player with SACD hybrid capability automatically defaults to the highest resolution layer, if the firmware is out of date, it may only read from the CD surface. That’s the part I don’t quite get. How to access the higher resolution layer. I’m sure I read that some of these were created to hold several CDs worth on one disc, like a super long-player. Have you seen those, or was imagining it?
