Hi everyone, need some advice please on speaker cable connections. Im getting the qed silver anniversary xt speaker cable. However, what provides the superior connection? bare wire? airlock plugs? or basic plugs where the wire is attached through no specialist procedure ? thankyou all in advance.

The best way to connect wire to speakers im my opinion and easiest is by using mk2 airlocks. By doing this it makes it easy to connect to your amp without worrying about bare wires touching and shorting or it could damage the amp. Price £3.95 from A1sound but once on you cant remove them . Supposed to be the better connection eliminates any oxygen between cable and connector and should improve sound all depends on buget for 5.1 you need 4per cable adding up to £80, also try banana plugs for £1.50 screw or solder them. I used the mk airlocks purely for ease so it didnt need to cut and strip cables just being lazy.

Thankyou for the response mr lobby, im sorting the cables out tomorrow, so i'll go for the airlocks. Ive bought monitor audio speakers, rs8's at the front, the rsw12 subwoofer and the gold signature rears and gold centre speaker to be powered by the onkyo 905. I dont want to compromise the sound quality over £80 so i'll get the airlocks. Thanks again for the advice.
