I have a max budget of about £1200 to spend on a new plasma/LCD 42" or larger, I need some advice on which model to pursue, I want to watch full HD on blue ray and also watch SD broadcasts. I am sitting about 3.5mtrs from the tv and currently use a Hitachi PD Pro 5500 plasma which is 42" also and dont want to go any smaller. Can anyone advise..!

I have the Samsung PS-50P96FDX which is FULL HD and 24htz for Blu-Ray and it is a FANTASTIC screen for the money with all inputs and truely shines when fed HD content from Sky HD, My 360 and PS3. What-Hifi gave it 5 Stars. This is where I got mine, http://www.cramptonandmoore.co.uk/ps50p96fdx-3-year-warranty-i602999.html

This sounds very good,
What is the distance away from the screen you view your images as I am a bit concerned the 50" model might be to close for me at just over 3metres away

Doeas anyone rate the the TH42PZ80 or the TH46PZ85B from panasonic as an alternative
Doeas anyone rate the TH42PZ80 or the TH46PZ85B from panasonic as an alternative
The PZ80 and Z85 have had good reviews (also the Z81 today by WHFI - Z81 is virtually the Z85 with a Freesat tuner). They are all available in 42 and 46" versions. All three are excellent sets. (Reviews on this site, HDVtest, CNET, Trusted reviews...)

The best rated plasma is the Pioneer 4280XD and is just in your price range, though being discontinued. (no 46" version)

You need to read the reviews and look at the sets, so much choice these days.
