best format for sound quality???

What is the best format to use when putting music on my sony mp3 for sound quality??? Mp3, Wma, Wma lossless, Wma pro, Wma vbr, etc etc.

If that is the choiuce, then WMA lossless. But if it is only for portable use, I would stick with highbrate MP3 (220 VBR and above) (Using EAC and the LAME encoder)

If you have loads of storage space, use a lossless format.

If you are a bit pushed for space, the most efficient lossy format is AAC. It is part of the MPEG 4 standard (MP3 is part of the much older MPEG 3) and gives the best combination of compression and sound quality. Contrary to popular belief, AAC is an open standard, and is not Apple proprietary. Use AAC at 256kb/s and it will sound superb.
