Hi guys.

Sometimes i appreciate the easiness of wireless connection.

Im looking for a bluetooth receiver that can deliver details, clarity and air. So, recommend me the best bluetooth receiver. Build quality does not matter, only sound and functionality. I have heard the arcam rblink is not so good, but the Audioengine B1 Bluetooth, should be good?

And i know the sound can never be as good as a dac..

Any other alternatives?

Best regards Christian

I'm looking into this myself at the moment, so I thought I would share what I know so far.

There are different versions of bluetooth, the latest being 4. Devices with different versions are backwards compatible. Take note though that for the best quality AptX should be used, which is only available in bluetooth version 4 IIRC. Check therefor if the phone/tablet/computer you want to stream from has this version.

Alternatives could be Apple's Airplay, Android's DLNA , which are both using wifi if your amp/dac is capable of receiving it. Google chromecast if your device has hdmi or optical input. In my experience sound quality is mostly determined by taking a digital output not analogue. If you really want to squeeze the best performance out of it look for a dac that buffers and reclocks the signal.

Ordered the Chromecast with hdmi output today. For 39 euros it's worth a try. From what I understand the Chromecast Hdmi can play from the free version of Spotify, the Chromecast audio with optical output can only play from a Spotify premium account. That and the fact that I don't know what bluetooth receiver is compatible with my dac (there are laptop bluetooth usb adapters available from 10 euros onwards-the technology is pretty standard, except in hifi, where it warrants at least 70 euros), made the choice quite obvious.
