Hi, has anyone seen this issue before? On my Sony KDL32D3000 the digital BBC channels (1,2 and News24) are freezing the screen then the screen blanks out for a few seconds. Then it comes back on. This happens every ten or so minutes. When this happens there is the sound of a relay switching.

I've checked digital ITV1, channels 4 and 5, they do not have this issue. I've checked info for Blackhill transmitter (My local one) and there are no known issues.

I can't believe there's a hardware fault as this only happens on BBC channels. I've also checked Digital TV group website for scheduled software upgrades but nothing of interest there.

The TV has run error free since June 2007, this issue appeared on Monday 3/11/08. No changes have been made to the aerial. I have disconnected all external equipment and it makes no difference.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Sounds like you have a weak signal strength problem on the BBC transmitter. Does your TV show you the signal strength when it tunes in??

Could be a loose aerial connection, check the coax plug. I had similar problem last week, (good ITV reception, weak BBC) and it turned out to be the coax connector had come a bit loose when I was reorganising the cables behind the TV.

I'm in Glasgow so probably Blackhill as well. Also have the same telly as you. Started happening to us last night and was driving us crazy. It must be the BBC signal. Happens if we are plugged in on aerial or Virgin cable but only BBC channels.

If it happens on Virgin cable too, then it must be the BBCs problem.

Funkster67, I have reported it as a fault via the both the BBC website and with Sony customer service. Can I suggest you do likewise.

Sony advise that they are aware of the problem and working on it with the BBC but can't give an estimated fix date. I asked if it was all TVs but it seems to be specific to this model

Now resolved - switch TV off at wall socket, wait one minute then switch on again
