Confused! AV gurus welcomed!!
Have seen the Denon DVD2500BT for sale at £350 - Good price given its original £899 pricetag. Anyway this model is pretty much a transport and only has a single HDMI output for AV out (i.e. no dig/opt out, no component, etc). I would need to route it through my (aging) Yamaha RX-V2600 amp but I'm not sure how successful this would be. The Denon HDMI output is 1.3 whereas the HDMI input on the Yamaha is only 1.1. Does anybody know the implications of this? I assume that the additional functionality of 1.3 will not be supported, but would it still be a perfectly workable solution for picture and sound? It would ultimately only need to route a decent picture (1080p) and audio signal through the amp (5.1/DTS/EX/THX) to a Samsung PS50B850 Plasma (which has HDMI 1.3 I think).
Anyone know if this is feasible, or would the Denon just refuse to talk to my Yamaha, full stop?
