Banana plug cable issue with Aiyima A03

Hey guys, I am utterly confused over something. I have an aiyima A03, and I tried using my banana plug cables with them but they don’t work properly, audio cuts off etc. But I tried bare wire and it worked perfectly. I can’t explain this at all because the banana plug cable works fine with my av receiver. Any idea why this is happening?

I think I know what the issue is, some part of the cable grip (the part after the banana plug) were touching each other and we’re shorting. Could this have potentially damaged the amp somewhat?

If wired correctly your speaker cables should not be able to short out

There should be no exposed metal able to short out.
If the amp's still working, it's not damaged.

Plastic body plugs, correctly wired, won't short out, or cut out.

(Fisual banana plugs are good).

The terminals on the Aiyima A03 amp are tight so the black rough grippy part was touching, this is bad design, the black part should have been plastic to prevent this situation.

Anyways I put a piece of paper between + and - cable and they work now. How does the contact spray work exactly?

Yes - and the plugs linked to in post #5 above are also metal - but the silver paint coating insulates them (at least until it scratches off).

I would have thought the black coating on your plugs would be doing the same - but you've found that it conducts 🤔
(A bit of insulation tape around both might be a better solution than paper between them).

It doesn’t look like silver paint as the description refers to an Aluminium body, which itself is a silver colour.

Some similar ones that I have, do have aluminium bodies - but the aluminium has a non- conductive, silver- coated finish.

Of course, when in the sockets, the plug bodies should never be close enough to touch together anyway.

Looking at a picture of the rear of the amp, the sockets don’t look that close together.

However, for safety, I would suggest that the OP uses plastic plug bodies to prevent any shorting

They are much closer than they are on my Yamaha av receiver or the SMSL A300, which is understandable as the body itself is smaller. They fixed this on the Aiyima A07 max, which has spaced out binding posts.
