Audiolab 8000CD

Can anyone tell me what the original price on an Audiolab 8000CD player was, built about 8 to 10 ten years ago, I think. I am in the market for a new CD player, and my hifi dealer is trying to push a second hand audiolab 8000CD onto me for £350,00 saying it was originally a £1000,00 player, but looking around on the web, I see that you can still get them new for around £400.00 - is this because audiolab is not the sam company it used to be - are those 8000CD players from those days much better than the new ones?

No, they are now made in China but I think £350 is a little strong for a Brit version since they go on ebay for under half that. Worth bearing in mind that there's a new Audiolab range coming out soon starting at £700 which, if early rumblings are to be believed, are much better so If you can stretch to the extra it may be worth the wait...........of course 400 quid for the one of the outgoing crop may not be a bad deal.
