Atlas Hyper 1.5 speaker cable, any thoughts ???

Hiya guys,

Have purchased recently an Atlas Hyper 1.5 by mistake . I was actually browsing for the very well-reviewed Hyper 2.0 , and thought that had bought one of the E-bay, but when it arrived it was in fact the little brother - the hyper 1.5 .

The mistake was mine ,the seller - not guilty .

Anyway , I`ll be using it to connect Leema Pulse Amp to a speaker switch :

and then from the switch to my speakers ( Mezzo 6 ) , I have a pair of quality ProAc speaker cable :

I haven`t even tested the Hyper 1.5 as I am currently waiting for set of banana plugs , but just wonder - would the cable be good enough to match the quality of the rest of the Set-up . Should I keep it or return it and look further for the Hyper 2.0 ? Has anyone tested both cables ( the Hyper 1.5 and 2.0 ) , and is the difference small,big or huge ???

The difference is only 0.5mm? As long as it isn't a really long run of cable it should be fine.

Even if someone had tested both cables, their result would depend on their ears/system and in your case you've got that audio router + Pro-Ac cables in the chain.

I know..it is a complicated set-up. But that is the only way to use a stereo amp and receiver together with one pair of speakers ( given that your AVR doesn`t have pre-outs ) .

I was only asking as I wasn`t able to test the cable properly , but my bananas have arrived this morning and tomorrow will give it a good test to see if up to my liking...

I have the Hyper biwire, which is a combination of 1.2 and 2.0 cables. I doubt the 1.5 will sound much difference. Do you have enough length to shotgun it (2 lengths in parallel)?

No I don`t... By shotgun it , do you mean to bi-wire it ? If so - not really. Going via a router ( the switch ) it will require a double set of cables and terminations , as you run them once from the amp to the switch and then from the switch to the speakers . I`ll test my speakers bi-wired , and if I find any difference I might consider buying the Hyper Bi-wire to do so...

By shotgun, I don't mean biwire (although its similar), its running two sets of wires to the same speaker terminals. Doubles the cross sectional area so you end up with "Atlas Hyper 3" or something like that.

Hiya all, I can now confirm that the Atlas Hyper 1.5 is an excellent cable.Compared to my ProAc,which is considerably more expensive , it holds its value . After a very long listening session , and I must stress that it was very hard to conclude that the bass is not as tight as with the ProAc. But, again , that was quite hard to notice .I am definitely keeping it for now. And if in future I find some deal on a very very good cable I could buy it and use the Hyper 1.5 to Bi-Wire my center speaker for which purpose I think it will shine .

Good to read your happy news. FWIW, I use the DNM interconnect with the Hyper Speaker cable. I like the sound that the more solid type cables give, nice and "punchy".

. Hope you haven`t paid the £ 300 that WHF review is indicating as the price of it . Expensive , but I am sure it is worth it .

I am waiting on Leema Linx Interconnect . It was its promotion in Bristol last weekend. It is apparently an interconnect from Chord Company designed for especially Leema .

BTW , you mentioned that you`re using the Hyper Bi-wire. Do you actually find real benefits of the Bi-Wiring , and in what aspects ?

Yeah, the Leema Linx is certainly the cable to go for with any Leema system. It's been a long time in the waiting if honest but is now finally available at least for pre-order.
