As previously mentioned I got my hands on this unit and after numerous hours of running the unit in I think it’s now approaching a good listening level, so here goes.

First impressions out of the box were it’s such a small and discrete unit, minimalist even in design. Next I set it up using a coaxial from my blu ray then feeding phonos to the amp. I initially heard a lot more detail than before even from fresh out of the box, everything had the right level of detail from vocals, bass, etc...Next I popped a more lively cd in as previously more indie sounding cds were somewhat dull, but the arcam changed all this, it brought that added life and realism into the recordings without adding anything extra. So after a month or so of running in it has improved, bass has become more taught with more accurate timing and an overall freshness also has been added.
Note I haven’t got around to trying it via usb.
So to sum it up, an excellent product that fits ideally into my set up highly recommended and thumbs up all round

What is your set-up? I'm interested because I've heard conflicting opinions from dealers on the pros and cons of the rDac.

Set up as follows, Denon AVR2311, Sony BD760, Arcam rDac, (B&W) DM603S2 + HTM62 + 686's, M&K Sub, nordost cable and interconnects throughout and russ andrews power connections.

Thanks for that - I'm interested (very, in fact) in the DAC but my own insecurities about the technology has become a fairly high hurdle, of the 'Beaches Brook' scale.

i am just about to send my second rdac back for repair or replacement, as the sound cuts out intermitantly. i have lost faith with the rdac, 2 units in 8 months for the same problem seems like there is a general problem.

.

That rdac is causing me lack of sleep. If I get a spair moment from being to busy to listen to music and put it on I'm always up till 3am listening to it.

I did get cutting out when I used a maplins power supply. The connection between it and the ardac was poor. The weight and stiffness of the wire and the poor connection caused problems. Every slight movement gave it a dodgy connection that kept cutting it out completey. So if I was to guess at the cutting out I would put it down to the wall wart.
